The Complete Guide to Clear Aligners – Invisible Braces in Haifa and the Krayot
What are clear aligners and why more adults choose them
Teeth straightening is no longer just for children and teenagers. Today, more and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment – to improve appearance, chewing and gum health. The drawback of traditional metal braces has always been aesthetics and comfort: visible brackets, difficulty cleaning and dietary restrictions. Clear aligners – a series of transparent, removable appliances changed every two weeks – offer aesthetic, comfortable and almost invisible alignment. Treatment suits adults and teenagers with mild to moderate crowding or spacing and allows removal for meals and brushing, so oral hygiene stays excellent and the look is discreet. Teeth straightening in the Krayot and Haifa with clear aligners is offered by clinics that use digital planning: a scan or impression of the teeth, computer simulation of tooth movement over the course of treatment, and custom-made aligners. The result – predictable, comfortable and aesthetic treatment.
At Dr. Tal Itskovich’s clinic in Kiryat Motzkin we offer clear aligner treatment with digital planning so you can see your treatment path and expected outcome in advance. The clinic serves Haifa, the Krayot and Kiryat Motzkin – free initial consultation. This article explains what clear aligners are, who they suit, how the process works and the advantages and limitations.
What are clear aligners and how do they work?
Clear aligners are a series of appliances made of transparent medical-grade plastic. Each aligner is tailored to the tooth position at that stage of treatment: roughly every two weeks you switch to a new aligner that moves the teeth in small, controlled steps toward the final position. Planning is done in advance with software: based on a scan or impression, a 3D simulation of tooth movement is built for the entire treatment, and only then are the aligners produced. So the patient and dentist know in advance how many aligners, how long treatment will take and what the result will look like.
The material is usually polycarbonate or similar – thin, flexible and transparent. The aligner fits snugly over the teeth and applies gentle, continuous force to move them. Because it is removable, the patient must wear the aligners about 20–22 hours a day for treatment to succeed. Most patients adapt within a few days and find the aligners comfortable.
Who are clear aligners suitable for?
Clear aligners suit a wide range of cases – spacing, mild to moderate crowding, protrusion or retrusion, and minor bite corrections. Not every case is suitable: very severe crowding, large rotations or skeletal issues may require fixed braces or combined treatment. The dentist will examine you, scan or take an impression, and decide if clear aligners will give the best result.
At our clinic we assess each patient individually and explain whether clear aligners are right for you, estimated treatment time and cost. The initial consultation is free and non-binding.
How does the treatment work – from first visit to finish?
Scan, digital plan and ordering aligners
At the first visit the dentist examines your teeth and gums, explains options and decides whether to proceed with clear aligners. If so, a digital scan (or traditional impression) is taken and sent for planning. A simulation of tooth movement over the coming months is built, and the number of aligners and treatment length are set. After you approve the plan, the aligners are made and sent to the clinic. Usually within a few weeks you receive your first aligners and usage instructions.
Wearing, changing and follow-up
You wear each aligner about 20–22 hours a day and switch to the next every two weeks. Remove only for meals and brushing. Follow-up visits are every six to eight weeks. At the end you usually receive a retainer to maintain the result.
Advantages of clear aligners over traditional braces
Aesthetics: aligners are transparent and barely visible. Comfort: no brackets or wires. Hygiene: you can remove for brushing and flossing. Diet: no restrictions – remove for meals. Predictability: digital planning shows the treatment path and outcome in advance.
Limitations: treatment requires discipline – 20–22 hours of wear per day. Not every orthodontic case is suitable; complex cases may need fixed braces. We will help you understand if clear aligners are right for you.
Daily care and looking after your aligners
Brush the aligners gently with a toothbrush and a little toothpaste when removed; rinse in lukewarm water. Do not eat or drink coloured drinks (except water) with aligners in. Store them in the case provided when not in use. Avoid high heat so the plastic does not warp.
Frequently asked questions – clear aligners in the Krayot
How much do clear aligners cost?
Cost depends on treatment length, number of aligners and case complexity. The clinic gives a detailed quote after consultation and scan. Initial consultation is free.
Does it hurt?
You may feel slight pressure in the first days after each new aligner; this usually passes. Most patients report minimal discomfort.
How many hours per day do I wear them?
About 20–22 hours a day. Remove only for meals and brushing. Wearing them less can prolong treatment or affect the result.
Are they suitable for adults?
Yes. Clear aligners are very suitable for adults – discreet, comfortable and allow excellent oral hygiene. There is no upper age limit.
How long does treatment take?
Depends on complexity – usually six months to a year and a half. Digital planning gives an accurate estimate from the start.
What if I lose an aligner?
Contact the clinic. You may move to the next aligner or have a replacement made. Do not leave teeth without an aligner for long or they may shift back.
Do I need a retainer after treatment?
Yes. After treatment you usually receive a retainer – a thin aligner at night or a fixed appliance – to maintain the result. Without it, teeth can shift back.
